Rumors of a Beyoncé (pictured) and Jay-Z royal wedding performance have turned out to be untrue. After the release of the Royal Wedding guest list, British tabloid The Daily Star reported that that the famous pop duo would be performing “Crazy in Love” at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Buckingham Palace reception. According to their source, “Both William and Kate are massive fans of Beyoncé and Jay-Z” and the pair “wanted to make their big day even more special.” The paper also reported that the palace “refused to confirm or deny” the entertainers’ attendance, putting the rumor mills in motion. Unfortunately for those hoping to catch the performance on the official British monarchy YouTube channel, “They are not performing," Buckingham Palace told the Gossip Cop.

While it’s possible that the appearance was supposed to be an elaborate surprise orchestrated by the Queen as a gift for grandson and the future princess (until the secret got out), it’s more likely that the gossip was just what it sounds like: your standard baseless rumor.

Nineteen hundred people were included on the guest list, and the palace released an official "selected" list this weekend. Celebrities include David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John and partner David Furnish, singer Joss Stone and director Guy Ritchie. – KATIE LUSCOMBE
