Jason Momoa, the Aquaman actor, shared a video on Instagram, shaving off his signature long, wavy hair and calling on his fans to stop using plastic water bottles and utensils because of their damage to the environment.

“Aloha everyone,” Momoa said in the video. “So, I’m shaving off the hair. Doing it for single-use plastics. I’m tired of these plastic bottles, we’ve got to stop, plastic forks all that shit, it just goes into our land, goes into our ocean.”

Momoa has long been an activist for climate change action. In 2019, he founded Mananalu Water, a drinking water company aiming at putting water in aluminum bottles instead of plastic ones. He has also shaved off his facial hair to make a statement about plastics in 2019.

Momoa hasn’t revealed how the final cut looks in the video. His fans are welcoming of his mission, calling it a “big move for a great cause.”

“Heres to new beginnings let’s spread the aloha,” he added in the caption. “Be better at protecting our land and oceans. we need to cut single-use plastics out of our lives and out of our seas. plastic bottles, plastic bags, packaging, utensils all of it. let’s aloha our ‘āina together aloha j. @mananalu.water
