Jane Kean, who was best known for playing Trixie Norton on The Honeymooners TV revival, died on Tuesday in California. She was 90.
Kean’s death was confirmed by her niece Deirdre Wolpert on Thursday. The actress reportedly passed away at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank after seeking treatment for injuries sustained in a fall.
"She was just an extraordinary person," Wolpert told CNN. "Completely independent, and traveling. Last year she did a two-hour one-woman show, a retrospective with film clips and everything. She was amazing."
In addition to playing opposite Art Carney’s Ed Norton in The Honeymooners revival and The Jackie Gleason Show, Kean acted in a number of TV shows; she also appeared in The Love Boat, The Facts of Life and Growing Pains. On the big screen, Kean appeared in Pete’s Dragon and Chatterbox, along with a number of others.
Kean was born on April 10, 1923 in Hartford, Conn. She had recently been residing in Toluca Lake, California.
Kean is survived by Wolpert, and a stepson.
