Kean’s death was confirmed by her niece Deirdre Wolpert on Thursday. The actress reportedly passed away at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank after seeking treatment for injuries sustained in a fall.

"She was just an extraordinary person," Wolpert told CNN. "Completely independent, and traveling. Last year she did a two-hour one-woman show, a retrospective with film clips and everything. She was amazing."

In addition to playing opposite Art Carneys Ed Norton in The Honeymooners revival and The Jackie Gleason Show, Kean acted in a number of TV shows; she also appeared in The Love Boat, The Facts of Life and Growing Pains. On the big screen, Kean appeared in Pete’s Dragon and Chatterbox, along with a number of others.

Kean was born on April 10, 1923 in Hartford, Conn. She had recently been residing in Toluca Lake, California.

Kean is survived by Wolpert, and a stepson.
