Britney Spears’ sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, has spoken publicly about the singer’s conservatorship. Britney addressed a court hearing last week and said she was “traumatized” by the conservatorship.

“I’m so proud of her for using her voice,” said Jamie on her Instagram Story which she posted on Monday.

She expressed her support and said that she would be there for her sister no matter what she chooses to do.

“If ending the conservatorship … or whatever the hell else she wants to do to be happy, I support that,” she continued.

She explained that she had told Britney to get a new legal counsel years ago.

“I am so proud of her for requesting new counsel, like, I told her to do many years ago.”

The Sweet Magnolias actress spoke up about criticisms she was facing from Britney fans. Many wondered why she had never supported her sister publicly.

“The only reason I haven’t [spoken out] before is because I felt like until my sister could speak for herself and say what she felt she needed to say publicly, it wasn’t my place, and it wasn’t the right thing to do,” she said. “But now that she’s very clearly spoken … I feel like I can follow her lead and say what I feel I need to say.”

She made it clear that even though she hasn’t been public about her support for her sister, she was always there for her “long before” the hashtag “#FreeBritney” began trending.

“Maybe I didn’t support her the way the public would like me to, with a hashtag on a public platform,” she continued. “But I can assure you I have supported my sister long before there was a hashtag. And, I’ll support her long after.”

Jamie added that “since the day I was born, I’ve only loved, adored and supported my sister.”

“I am only her sister who is only concerned about her happiness,” she said.
