James Lee Taylor, the British model-turned-actor, joined the cast of TV series Being Mary Jane towards the end of its third season that wrapped up earlier this month.

Taylor came onto the BET original series Being Mary Jane as a character named Eddie, who Taylor describes as a “suave English guy.” Eddie, the new love interest for Gabrielle Union‘s Mary Jane, meets the titular character at a bar, where flirtation leads to kissing and more. Before long, the two bump into each other again. Eddie quickly learns that Mary Jane is the famous talk show host, and their story evolves from there.
“Gabrielle is great…I couldn’t have wished for a better [costar],” Taylor said of Union. “She’s a leading actress, who’s vastly experienced. She’s just a real pleasure. She knows her stuff inside and out.”
Taylor went on to admit that his first day on set was a bit surreal, as he watched the Bring It On actress and Aaron D. Spears shooting a scene before having to get in front of the camera himself.
“My first day on set, I was watching the monitor, I was watching Gabrielle and Aaron finish up a scene before I was,” he told uInterview. “It was quite a funny experience, watching it as a viewer and then doing it myself. [Gabrielle] was very welcome, easy to work with. She’s a pleasure.”
When it came to shooting sex scenes for Being Mary Jane with Union, the face of Three Olives Vodka didn’t find it quite as intimidating as one might think.
“Not as scary as I thought. It was a new thing for me. it was quite fun. It’s fun to do,” Taylor said, though added, “It’s a bit nerve-racking as far as sort of like, ‘I’m naked, okay, I’m ready.”
As for those pesky rumors that he has dated or is dating fellow ex-pat Kelly Brook, Taylor dismissed them for what they are – rumors.
“Never, never. We’re good friends, and we have a working relationship, and we’re both from England,” Taylor said. “That’s as far as it goes with that.”
Being Mary Jane‘s third season finale aired Dec. 15. As of yet, it’s unknown if BET plans on renewing the series for a fourth season.
