James Corden Reveals He Tried Ozempic – And It Didn’t Work

Former TV host James Corden divulged that he had previously attempted to use the viral diet drug Ozempic to lose weight – but it didn’t yield any results for him.

An FDA-approved prescription medication for type 2 diabetes, Ozempic has become an increasingly popular (and dangerous) diet tactic, particularly among celebrities.

In conversation with his guest, Richard Osman, on an episode of his podcast This Life of Mine, Corden reviewed his life-long battle with bad food habits and addiction.

He told Osman, “I tried Ozempic, and it won’t be surprising to you when you look at me now that it didn’t really work. I tried it for a bit and then what I realized was I was like, ‘Oh no, nothing about my eating has anything to do with being hungry.’ All this does is make you feel not hungry. But I am very rarely eating [just because of hunger].”

He continued, “You are looking at someone who’s eaten a king size, and when I say king size [Cadbury] Dairy Milk — one you give someone for Christmas — in a carwash. None of that was like, ‘Oh, I’m so hungry.’ It is not that; it’s something else.”

Corden also shared that he had been considering giving up alcohol. “I am finding myself at a period of my life where I’m feeling like it might be time,” he said. “Not that I think I’m overdoing it. But I do feel in myself, it might be time to just stop now. I’m not sure I’m getting great benefits from this. Think it’s time for me, personally.”

Ozempic carries significant health risks for people without type 2 diabetes, and the box warns about an increased chance of thyroid cancer, among many other complications, which can include potential blindness. As of April 1, 2024, there have been 222 deaths from Ozempic.

Sharon Osbourne has been a harsh critic of the drug after she lost a concerning amount of weight, and her body is “not listening” as she’s trying to regain.

Chelsea Handler also revealed on her Call Her Daddy podcast that she had unknowingly taken Ozempic when her doctor prescribed her the drug without specifying what it was. “I tried it, and I’m not going to do that. That’s not for me. That’s not right for me.”

Rebel Wilson stated her opinion on the topic: “I feel strongly that young women shouldn’t try to obsess over looking like Victoria’s Secret models — they should just look like themselves. I know that my relationship with food is complicated.”
