Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith have been married for 25 years – and the couple still needs to squash rumors about their relationship.

“We’re still figuring it out… a lot has happened,” Jada told People. “The thing about relationships is that it’s constantly moving. Relationships are, it’s an organism. It’s its own thing. It’s constantly shifting and constantly moving. There’s a lot that transpired in the last two years, and so we’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together.”

In Jada’s web series Red Table Talk, she explained that she had a relationship with August Alsina, an R&B singer, while she and Will were separated.

Alsina had previously claimed he was in an “entanglement” with Jada while she was married.

Jada, 52, clarified that neither she nor Will, 55, has ever had an affair or open marriage through the entirety of their relationship.

“I tell him all the time. I say, ‘If you think for one minute I’m going to give up the right to pull that plug … when your tail is in that hospital and a hundred years old, I’m pulling that plug,” she continued. “Nobody else is going to get there. I worked hard to be able to pull that plug. Pull it. That’s my call.”

The pair first met in 1994 on the set of Will’s show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Will was married to Sheree Zampino then; after the two split, Will called up Jada and asked if she was single. The two got married on New Year’s Eve in 1997 while Jada was already pregnant with their son Jaden.

In 2011, rumors started to circulate that Jada had an affair with Marc Anthony.

The couple shut down the report down with a statement: “Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact.”

In 2013, amid speculation that the couple was in an open marriage, Jada posted on Facebook: “Will and I BOTH can do WHATEVER we want, because we TRUST each other to do so. This does NOT mean we have an open relationship… this means we have a GROWN one,” she said.

Jada’s memoir Worthy comes out on Tuesday.
