Jada Pinkett Smith On Alleged Open Marriage With Will Smith: ‘He Has All The Freedom In The World’
Jada Pinkett Smith recently shared about her alleged “open” marriage with longtime husband Will Smith.
Jada Pinkett Smith On Marriage
Jada, 43, has been married to Will, 46, since she was 25. During those nearly 20 years of marriage, both Smiths were building careers in Hollywood, which often made it difficult. But, no matter how difficult their marriage might be, she’s not going to assume the role of her husband’s watcher.
“We have traveled and you’ve gotta be strong. It takes work — you know that!” Jada told Howard Stern. “Here’s the deal, Howard. You’ve gotta trust who you’re with. And at the end of the day, right, I’m not here to be anybody’s watcher. I’m not his watcher. He’s a grown man.”
“Here’s what I trust: The man that Will is… is a man of integrity. He’s got all the freedom in the world,” she added.. “As long as Will can look himself the mirror and be okay? I’m good.”
During the course of their marraige, there have been rumors of infidelity. Most recently, there was the suggestion that Will had gotten too close to his Focus costar Margot Robbie. The cheating allegations were refuted, but Jada wouldn’t necessarily blame him if he were attracted to her.
“Just because your man is attracted to another woman does not mean he doesn’t love you,” Jada opined. “That’s not what it means, and it doesn’t mean he’s gonna act on it. If your man can’t really see another woman’s beauty, how the hell is he gonna see yours?”
The Smiths, who were married in 1997, have two children – Jaden, 16, and Willow, 14.
