Al Gore, the former vice president and presidential candidate, may be contemplating throwing his hat into the ring for the 2016 presidential race.

Al Gore In 2016?

Gore, with Hillary Clinton‘s email scandal continuing to follow her, is rumored to be considering whether or not he should run once again for president, according to BuzzFeed News. “They’re getting the old gang together,” a senior Democrat told the outlet.

“They’re figuring out if there’s a path financially and politically,” the Democrat added. “It feels more real than it has in the past months.”

Though a presidential run could be in the cards for Gore, the politician has yet to take any real steps towards launching a campaign.

A member of Gore’s inner circle asked to be quoted “pouring lukewarm water,” on the rumors, according to BuzzFeed. “This is people talking to people, some of whom may or may not have talked to him.”

Despite the optimism of the senior Democrat and the member of Gore’s inner circle, others on the inside think there’s little chance that the environmental advocate would wade back into a presidential campaign, including a high-level Democrat who spoke to NBC News.

A more likely candidate, according to Washington insiders, is Vice President Joe Biden. Biden is expected to make a decision on whether or not he’ll run by the end of this month.
