Inmate Trent Thompson, who escaped from the West Texas prison was captured this week after escaping by climbing a fence. He was found about 250 miles away from the prison.
According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Thompson was last seen on Saturday at 11:14 p.m. at the Formby Unit in Plainview.
He escaped from the unit, climbed the fence and then stole a vehicle.
He was in prison for three counts of aggravated robbery in Coleman County and Taylor County and aggravated assault of a public servant in Coleman County. He is currently 22 years old and is supposed to be released in 2052.
After his escape, he is facing more charges, including felony escape charges.
Texas is facing a spate of prison escapes in the last year.
A family including a grandfather and his four grandsons were killed last year while at their ranch in Central Texas. The grandsons were ages 11 to 18.
The assailant, Gonzalo Lopez, was a convicted murderer and was in jail for two life sentences. He was able to escape while being transported to the prison on a prison transport bus.
Lopez’s escape resulted in him becoming one of the most wanted criminals in Texas. The search for him became one of the largest searches for an inmate in Texas history.
After Lopez committed the murders he stole the family’s truck and was later killed during a shootout with the police.
