In the newest edition of the Canadian Elle magazine, rapper Iggy Azalea explains her drama with Azealia Banks and how she wishes she would have worded the tweet set things off better.

“If I could, I would Men in Black memory-erase 2015, I totally would… I think the Azealia Banks thing is what really started it all,” she said. “We don’t like each other on a personal level, and that has gone on for many years — before the Black Lives Matter incident happened.”

The rapper is referring to the controversial verdicts for the police officers who shot and killed unarmed black men, Michael Brown and Eric Garne. The verdicts caused a multitude of protests and the Twitter hashtags #BlackLivesMatter, #HandsUpDontShoot, and #ICantBreathe to trend worldwide.

Banks decided to tweet Iggy personally: “its funny to see people Like Igloo Australia silent when these things happen… Black Culture is cool, but black issues sure aren’t huh?”

Iggy decided to subtweet her back with, “Also try not to judge anothers support or ‘lack there of’ solely on if they have ranted on twitter about it, thats not right or helpful.”

The rapper continued in the interview, “So when I dismissed her, people started to think that I dismissed the whole movement, but I wasn’t trying to dismiss Black Lives Matter — I was trying to dismiss her because it’s our personal shit. I don’t think the subject matter of her tweet was invalid; I just think it was emotionally charged and driven by something else, and the whole thing got so misconstrued. I just wish I had acknowledged the issue head-on because it made people think I don’t care about what’s going on socially and what’s happening in America, and I do care. Even though I still hate Azealia Banks, I wish I had said it in a way that didn’t make people think I was oblivious to the movement.”

Banks, after hearing that Iggy had made the comments to Elle magazine decided to subtweet her back, “No one is talking about u so u choose to mention me…. Wrong move hoe.”

She also decided to go for personal attacks and tweeted, “Mentioning me is the only thing that will get you attention. Because ur music and nose job are trash”
