Iggy Azalea’s North American Tour has been rescheduled, it was announced on Tuesday, following rumors that the tour was cancelled circulated.
Azalea announced that her ‘The Great Escape Tour’ would be rescheduled on Tuesday after cancelling all her previously set tour dates. The news came after The Wrap reported that a rift between Azalea and her management had put her tour “in jeopardy.” The report claimed that Azalea was refusing to promote the tour and wasn’t listening to her management and hinted that Azalea’s refusal to promote the tour was resulting in poor ticket sales.
Azalea has seemed somewhat overwhelmed by fame recently, particularly the paparazzi attention. In February, Azalea announced that she would be leaving Twitter in the hands of her management team after being a victim of online bullying. And on March 5, Azalea shared paparazzi photos taken at her home on Instagram, writing, “No one should be made to feel like their own home is a prison because even your garden may be grounds for a photoshoot.”
The next day, Azalea’s management announced that it would be taking control of her Instagram page. It has not been updated since.
On Tuesday, Azalea confirmed that her tour had, in fact, been facing some difficulties, but insisted that there was no truth to “any conflict between her and her management.” In a statement, Azalea and her label, Def Jam Recordings, said that “to accommodate for creative team availability and tour productions, it was determined that the tour will not be ready this spring.” Azalea’s team is trying to reign in the rumors of any behind-the-scenes discord between Azalea and her management, adding, “It’s important to Iggy that she delivers the show she envisaged to share with her fans and that requires more time in development.” The rapper’s team also reached out to fans on Twitter, writing, “The tour getting pushed back only means that it’ll be way more amazing than it would’ve been in April. Good things take time.”
Azalea had previously expressed her perfectionist tendencies when it comes to her tour, telling GQ, “I want everything to be right – everything, from the tour book to what someone wears. Even the right faces for the dancers, and their attitude. Everything is equally important.”
All stops on ‘The Great Escape Tour’ have been rescheduled and are pushed back until September. Unfortunately, due to the scheduling change both of Azalea’s previously announced opening acts, Nick Jonas and Tinashe have been forced to drop out. Jonas confirmed that he would be unable to appear at the new tour dates on Twitter, but said that he plans on touring on his own this spring regardless.
