Hugh Jackman is stepping back into Broadway with a starring role in a revival of The Music Man. Jackman may be better known to most by now as Wolverine or Jean Valjean, but some of his first big successes came on Broadway.

He made waves in 2003 with his Tony-winning role in The Boy From Oz, and a one-man show Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway he created. Now, The Music Man is premiering after first being announced in 2020, but was delayed after producer Scott Rudin stepped away following allegations of abusive behavior he carried out against his former employees.

Jackman expressed his admiration for the story of The Music Man in an interview with Vogue. “And here you’ve got this protagonist who brings a whole town together––in order to take everyone’s money, true. But even as he’s cheating them, he starts to recognize the better parts of human nature and the better parts of society, bringing them together for real and giving us hope that there is such a thing as community, real community.”
