Barron Trump, the 14-year-old son of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, shocked viewers of the Republican National Convention on Thursday night just by standing up.

The teen appeared to be staggeringly tall, standing next to Vice President Mike Pence during the final night of the RNC. Many on social media were quick to point out the seemingly stark height difference between them.

It is unclear how tall the president’s son is, though his parents are both tall. Melania, a former model, is reportedly 5 feet 11 inches tall and Donald Trump is said to be 6 feet 3 inches tall. Pence reportedly stands at 5 feet 10 inches. In the video taken at the RNC, it appeared that the vice president comes up to Barron’s chest, leading Twitter users to assume the teen must be over 6 feet tall. Many jokes followed, with most users saying Barron should get on the basketball court.

“Barron Trump needs to get the f–k out of that family and get up in the gym start putting up some shots,” joked one Twitter user.

Another Twitter user joked that football coach Nick Saban would be on his way to the White House to offer the first son a scholarship.

“There are so many more important things to talk about right now, but omg how tall is Barron Trump?!?” wrote one user.

Some conservatives took these types of tweets as attacks on Trump’s son, and hit back at the comments.

“Barron Trump is 14. Please leave him out of your attacks on the Trump family,” said JT Lewis, a Republican gun rights advocate.

“The leftists going after Barron Trump are absolute scum. He’s 14 years old. What is wrong with these people?” said Robby Starbuck, a conservative political commentator.

Others were quick to point out the double standard that past children who lived in the White House had faced.

“If you’re upset about people calling Barron Trump tall, wait until I tell you the things people called the Obama girls,” wrote @OhNoSheTwitnt.
