How I Met Your Mother will wrap up after nine seasons on Monday, March 31 with an hour-long finale narrated by none other than The Mother herself.

‘How I Met Your Mother’ Finale

From Jan. 13 to March 31, How I Met Your Mother will be on the fast-track to the finale, airing new episodes each Monday except for two due to the Sochi 2014 Olympics. Show co-creator Carter Bays confirmed the date of the last new episode featuring Ted (Josh Radnor), Marshall (Jason Segel), Lily (Alyson Hannigan), Robin (Cobie Smulders) and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) on Twitter.

Cristina Miloti, who bravely took on the part of the legendary Mother, could be up for an Emmy for her performance in HIMYM’s 200th episode. “If she doesn’t get nominated for a guest Emmy for this episode,” said executive producer Craig Thomas, “I don’t know what one has to do to get that.”

‘Friends With Better Lives’ Premiering On CBS

The highly anticipated How I Met Your Mother finale will serve as the lead in for James Van Der Beek’s new comedy titled Friends With Better Lives. Friends With Better Lives will eventually settle into the 8:30 p.m. timeslot, while Two Broke Girls will take over HIMYM’s 8/7c spot starting on April 14.

Friends With Better Lives follows a group of six friends in different stages of their lives – from careers to relationships. Each of them, despite apparent happiness, considers the possibility that their friends are leading more fulfilled lives. In addition to Van Der Beek, the new sitcom stars Kevin Connolly, Majandra Delfino, Zoe Lister-Jones, Brooklyn Decker and Rick Donald.

CBS also apparently has a How I Met Your Mother spinoff in the works aptly titled How I Met Your Dad, according to Variety. A pilot production commitment has reportedly already been made.
