Helen Mirren Is Set To Star In Upcoming ‘Fast and Furious’ Film

Helen Mirren revealed that she will star in Fast and Furious 8, during a new interview with Elle magazine released on Thursday.

Mirren was asked about what types of films she wants to do going forward in her career, and admitted that she wants to do fun movies — which includes the latest Fast and Furious film.

“I’m about to do Fast and Furious 8,” Mirren told Elle.  “But that’s for the fun of it. So maybe that’s what I want as well, some fun and some relevant, serious, important movies.”

When asked if she is confirmed to be in Fast 8, the actress simply said, “Yes. I am.”

Mirren shared details about her love of cars and how she made a specific request to the film’s producers.

“I’ve always rather loved driving. I said, ‘I’ll be in it, but only if I’m allowed to drive if I do drive in it,”’ Mirren recalled. “But we’ll see. We’ll see how it transpires.”

Mirren said last year she would love to play the villain in a Fast and Furious film.

“My great ambition is to be in a Fast and Furious movie,” she told Yahoo News. “I so want to be a mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie. My claim to fame is I always do my own driving — I was on Top Gear,’ and I did [my lap] in a very good time.”

Furious star Vin Diesel expressed happiness at the thought of Mirren joining the cast.

“Of course, I would,” Diesel told Access Hollywood. “Who wouldn’t? It’s Helen. Amazing.”

Fast 8 is set to hit theaters in 2017.
