Harvey Weinstein Sick With Fever, Possibly Second Bout With COVID-19; Twitter Reacts With Memes

Harvey Weinstein is sick with a fever and is being closely monitored by medical staff in prison. Many suspect that the sexual predator has contracted COVID-19 a second time, though it has not been officially confirmed.

“At this time… we can neither confirm nor deny that Mr. Weinstein has tested positive for COVID-19,” Juda Englemeyer, his publicist, and Craig Rothfeld, his authorized NYSDOCCS and NYS Department of Health Representative, said in a statement. “We can confirm that Mr. Weinstein has a fever and is being closely monitored by the excellent medical staff at Wende CF for which the entire legal defense team is grateful.”

Weinstein has struggled with his health even before being given his 23-year sentence, leading his defense attorneys to argue that his sentence should be reduced to five years in avoidance of a de facto life sentence.

“It should come as no surprise that Mr. Weinstein has numerous maladies and conditions including a heart condition, high blood pressure and spinal stenosis,” Englemeyer said. “As information becomes available that we are at liberty to discuss we will update everyone accordingly.”

Unlike Weinstein’s legal defense team, however, Twitter users have been celebrating Weinstein’s illness, mostly through memes.

“Harvey Weinstein is very ill and likely has COVID-19,” one user tweeted. “Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?”

“Excellent,” another replied via a GIF.

“My sincere condolences to COVID-19 for contracting Harvey Weinstein,” a user jokes.

“i hope harvey weinstein dies today,” a user tweets, paired with a video of three Among Us players dressed up as witches and pretending to perform a ritual.

Many Twitter users also compared Harvey Weinstein’s illness, and their hopes for its effects, to Donald Trump‘s prior COVID-19 diagnosis.

“I hope Harvey Weinstein survives coronavirus so he can get it again,” one Twitter user writes.

“That has been my wish for he-who-shall-not-be-named ever since he was ‘rushed’ to Walter Reed,” another replied.

“Harvey Weinstein is very ill with COVID-19. It’s the second time he has had it and much worse than the first,” a user tweets. “This should be a cautionary tale for Donald Trump who is also an elderly, obese sexual predator, many people are saying. Many people.”
