Harvey Weinstein has been placed in isolation at the Wende Correctional Facility after testing positive for the coronavirus, The Niagara Gazette reported on Sunday afternoon. He was tested in New York at the prison where he is serving a 23-year sentence for rape and sexually assaulting a multitude of women in Hollywood and outside of the industry.
At this time, he is one of two inmates who have tested positive for the virus. A New York law enforcement official has confirmed the diagnosis.
New York is one of the hardest hit states with coronavirus infections totaling more than 15,000 in confirmed cases with 114 deaths to date. The epicenter of the virus has been declared a disaster area by New York state Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D). Updates will be made available as to the prison’s state of infections as they become available.
