Harvey Weinstein Accused Of Rape By 3 Women Including Asia Argento In ‘New Yorker’ Piece

Three women have come forward with allegations of rape against Harvey Weinstein, who was recently fired from The Weinstein Company after an exposé detailing decades of sexual harassment was published.

HARVEY WEINSTEIN ACCUSED OF RAPE BY THREE WOMEN

Weinstein’s scandal is getting bigger and bigger as alleged past crimes and abuses are coming to light. The New Yorker published a piece today, written by Ronan Farrow, that alleges the mogul raped three women. Asia ArgentoLucia Evans, and one anonymous woman gave on-the-record accounts of Weinstein forcing them to engage in oral and vaginal sex with him. The story also mentions accounts from Mira Sorvino and Rosanna Arquette.

“I know he has crushed a lot of people before,” Argento said in the story. “That’s why this story — in my case, it’s twenty years old, some of them are older — has never come out.” Sorvino, who won an Oscar on Miramax’s Mighty Aphrodite in 1995, explained that she’d been harassed and pressured into having a sexual relationship with the executive while she appeared in Miramax movies. “[He] started massaging my shoulders, which made me very uncomfortable, and then tried to get more physical, sort of chasing me around,” she said. Arquette described similar incidents.

Evans described a specific incident when she was senior in college and had a meeting with Weinstein and a casting executive about a role. After the meeting, she says Weinstein forced her to perform oral sex on him. “I said, over and over, ‘I don’t want to do this, stop, don’t,'” she recalled. “I tried to get away, but maybe I didn’t try hard enough. I didn’t want to kick him or fight him. He’s a big guy. He overpowered me.” In the end, she admitted, “I just sort of gave up. That’s the most horrible part of it, and that’s why he’s been able to do this for so long to so many women: people give up, and then they feel like it’s their fault.”

The other woman in the article described similar situations, with many saying Weinstein would lure them to hotel rooms under professional pretext, only to change into a bathrobe and assault them. He requested massages and forced himself on the women. The New Yorker article also reports that four women received unwanted physical contact with the producer that “could be classified as assault.” The story includes audio of Weinstein admitting that he groped Italian model Ambra Battilana Gutierrez.

In response, Weinstein’s reps released a statement denying all allegations brought forth. “Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein,” the statement reads. “Mr. Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances. Mr. Weinstein obviously can’t speak to anonymous allegations, but with respect to any women who have made allegations on the record, Mr. Weinstein believes that all of these relationships were consensual.”

Farrow, a correspondent for NBC, spent 10 months interviewing 13 women for this story, all of whom reported that they have been harassed or assaulted by Weinstein.
