Hamish Harding’s stepson, Brian Szasz, attended a concert while his Harding is currently missing on the Titanic expedition submersible.

Szasz has been widely criticized for his actions, as many see him as insensitive while his stepdad faces death at the bottom of the Atlantic.

He defended his actions on Instagram in a story post saying, “Yes I went to @blink182 last night. What am I supposed to do sit at home and watch the news? Not sorry this band has helped me through hard time since 1998.”

He originally posted about the concert on Facebook captioning the photo, “It might be distasteful being here but my family would want me to be at the blink-182 show as it’s my favorite band and music helps me in difficult times!”

This post was recently deleted. “For privacy, my mom asked me to delete all related posts thanks for the support,” he wrote.

He kept his posts on Twitter up though, including a video of the concert and a selfie he took. He added in one Tweet, “Blink 182 gets us through life’s toughest times!”

He received a lot of criticism in the comments, one person even saying, “I’m guessing you went back for the second show.”

Szasz continued on to tweet Blink 182 on Monday asking for their support.

“@blink182 @tomdelonge @travisbarker @markhoppis My stepdad Hamish is on this submarine lost at sea. I’m devastated but coming to the San Diego show tonight so you guys can give me hope and cheer me up.”🖤🙏”

Others found this funny though shocked that this was Szasz’s reaction to the crisis his family is currently experiencing.

Since then, Szasz has continued to post on Twitter and Facebook. Some of the posts are heartwarming, while others are about the concert. He did complain that reporters are following him and that people won’t leave him alone.

He posted a video on Facebook of a man following him and wrote, “These creepy reporters are following me and stalking me in San Diego. This creep at Petco park followed me after getting tacos.”
