New York City subway commuters stumbled upon a surprise acoustic set performed by pop-punk band Green Day and late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon.

The band and Fallon initially showed up in the subway disguised as average city-goers. The group then broke out into song/ They played some of Green Day’s greatest hits, such as “American Idiot” and new singles “Dilemma” and “Look Ma, No Brains!”

Fallon joined in to accompany on the tambourine. As a large crowd began to form, Green Day and Fallon took off their disguises. Fallon announced to the crowd that Green Day’s 14th studio album, Saviors, was set to be released on Friday, January 19.

Their performance was met with great surprise and cheer from the crowd. Many fans jumped to the music and sang along with lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong. Videos quickly began to circulate on social media. Footage of the performance has since been uploaded to The Tonight Show YouTube channel.

Green Day will go on its Saviors Tour this summer starting May 30 in Europe. The band will return to the United States for shows in July.
