GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Targeted in Swatting Incident – For 8th Time – On Christmas

Controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) found herself at the center of a swatting incident on Christmas morning at her residence in Georgia, as reported by local police and the congresswoman herself.

Swatting refers to the act of making a false emergency call to law enforcement in an attempt to provoke an armed response or SWAT team deployment.

Greene faced repercussions in her first term when the former Democratic majority in the House stripped her of committee assignments due to racist remarks, promotion of conspiracy theories, and previous endorsement of violence against Democratic officials.

However, Greene has since gained influence under the current Republican leadership in the House and remains a vocal figure for the far-right.

In a post to X, Greene stated, “I was just swatted. This is like the 8th time. On Christmas with my family here. My local police are the GREATEST and shouldn’t have to deal with this.”

The police acknowledged that the previous calls on Greene had falsely claimed the discovery of dead bodies in her home. Last year, law enforcement also responded to unfounded reports of shootings near her residence.

While the local police department has responded to these incidents in the past, it has now established a close working relationship with Greene’s security detail. The department’s criminal investigations division is actively working to identify the perpetrator of the latest swatting attempt.

In the recent incident, a man from New York called a Georgia suicide hotline with the claim that he had shot his girlfriend at Greene’s address and planned to kill himself. The hotline staff recognized Greene’s address and promptly alerted the police. However, upon further investigation, it was determined that the call was a swatting attempt, which led to the cancellation of the police response.

In a separate incident, Republican Rep. Brandon Williams also experienced a swatting attempt on Christmas Day at his central New York home. The false report of a shooting prompted law enforcement to check the premises and ensure there was no immediate danger.

Earlier this month, Greene alleged that a fellow member of Congress assaulted her.

Greene’s new book was recently in the news for all the wrong reasons when it got just one star from Amazon reviewers.
