Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist, the starring couple on The Golden Bachelor, announced their decision to end their marriage after just three months.

In an emotional revelation on Good Morning America, Turner disclosed, “Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations. We’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth and we’ve come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage.”

Nist added, “We have received so much love and support from so many people who watched The Golden Bachelor, and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them so much hope. We want none of that to change for anybody.”

Turner said, “The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations has been how dedicated both of us are to our families. So we look at these situations, and I think we just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to live apart.”

Nist shed light on one of the factors contributing to their separation—a failure to solidify their future living arrangements. “We looked at homes in South Carolina, we considered New Jersey, and we just looked at home after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision,” she said.

Both individuals will return their respective rings as they embark on separate paths.

The bond between Turner and Nist blossomed in the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor, a groundbreaking reality series that embraced romance among seniors. At the time of the show’s broadcast, Turner, 72, found a profound connection with Nist, 70, and proposed in the season finale on November 30. The wedding ceremony was aired on January 4.
