Glee returned on Thursday for the second part of its two episode Beatles Tribute – "Tina in the Sky with Diamonds" – that saw some major plot points for the show’s main characters move forward.

First of all, Rachel (Lea Michele) fears that her hopes of being cast as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl, the role originated by her idol Barbra Streisand are over. The odd thing, instead of becoming the hyper-neurotic Rachel, she dissolves into mopey-ness. She’s too depressed to even feign jealousy that Santana (Naya Rivera) landed a part in a feminine hygiene commercial.

Kurt (Chris Colfer) manages to get Rachel going again with a duet of “Get Back,” and she resolves herself to find another big break – but it turns out she doesn’t need to. At work at the diner, the Funny Girl producer pops by and orders a cake that’s to come with the message: “Congratulations, Rachel Berry: You are Fanny Brice.”

Meanwhile, despite doing an awesome job for the Yeast-i-Stat spot, Santana doesn’t get paid in cash, but in product. She’s not upset about it for long, though, as she’s crushing on fellow diner employee Dani (Demi Lovato). After working the graveyard shift together, the flirty twosome watch the sunrise – a first date that ends in a first kiss. They two also did an incredible duet of “Here Comes the Sun.”

Back in the Midwest at McKinley High School, Tina Cohen-Chang (Jenna Ushkowitz) is announced as a Prom Queen finalist – which both sends her into shock and makes her determined to do everything she can to get the crown. Her first order of business is to dump Sam (Chord Overstreet), believing that she’ll get sympathy votes if she goes solo. Kitty (Becca Tobin), softening more and more every week, decides to put her muscle behind Tina’s campaign instead of worrying about her own chances. Tina ends up winning but gets a slushy shower a la Carrie. Not to worry, though, the New Directions led by Blaine (Darren Criss) sing “Hey Jude” and get her fixed up and send her back to the dance where she gladly takes back her crown.

Dejected after getting ditched by Tina – despite not harboring any romantic feelings for her – Sam is looking for a distraction. He finds it in Nurse Penny, the new college sophomore school nurse. Sam pays her a visit in the nurse’s office and takes a shot to the rear for the sake of Penny’s job. Will they be the latest Glee authority figure-student romance?

Glee airs Thursdays on Fox at 9/8c.
