Gilmore Girls will reportedly be revived in the form of a limited series that will stream on Netflix.
The Gilmore Girls revival series will be penned by series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino, according to TVLine. It’s believed that stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, who played the mother-daughter duo of Lorelai and Rory, will return for the series. Scott Patterson (Luke Danes) and Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore) are expected to return as well.
The limited series will reportedly consist of four 90-minute episodes.
As of yet, Warner Bros. and Netflix have not commented, neither has Sherman-Palladino or the actors – though Graham hinted on Twitter that the rumors could be true.
Back in May, Patterson, who played Stars Hollows contrarian diner owner, hinted that Gilmore Girls could get a revival.
“There are talks going on at the moment,” Patterson said on the Gilmore Guys podcast earlier in the week. “I can’t really go into any detail, but there is some activity. So I’m hopeful, and you know, I’m in. I think it would be a big event, and I think it would be a great fan celebration. They deserve it.”
“I think there’s a lot of territory left unexplored that we could explore in a limited series or a TV movie or feature film, whatever that may be,” Scott added. “I think it really just comes down to the script. I think everybody would jump on board.”
Sherman-Palladino also suggested that she’d be up for a revival if everything fell into place – and if that were the case, the fans would be pleased with the result.
“It would have to be the right everything — the right format, the right timing,” she said at the ATX TV Festival. “If it ever happened, I promise we’ll do it correctly.”
