Gigi Hadid received some screen time during the premiere of Dancing With the Star’s 18th season Monday night, as she sat in the audience to watch her boyfriend, Cody Simpson, compete.
Right from Simpson’s introduction, Hadid was thrust into the spotlight. A clip of Simpson’s pro partner Witney Carson asking him if he had a girlfriend at home as soon as he walked into the rehearsal space played for the audience. When asked if Hadid had any concerns about him participating in the show, Simpson replied that she had simply told him to be careful.

Following Simpsons cha-cha with Carson, Hadid was captured on screen on her feet to give her boyfriend a standing ovation. Although the 17-year-old singer only received 22 points from the judges, Hadid was clearly impressed. New host Erin Andrews asked Simpson after he received his scores, “How was it dancing in front of your girlfriend with these distracting hips?” While Simpson chuckled into the mic, Hadid smiled like a trooper from her seat.
So, how does Hadid actually feel about Simpson’s dancing debut? The singer recently opened up about his girlfriend’s feelings, saying, “Has she teased me? Not necessarily,” adding to People, “She’s like, ‘Don’t move your hips too much in front of [Witney].’ ”
“It’s great,” he said. “It’s in good fun.”
Hadid took to Twitter after the show to joke about Simpson and Carson’s routine to Pitbull and Kesha’s “Timber.”
When Hadid’s not supporting her boyfriend of nine months, she’s studying at NYU and working on her career as a model, which took off after she made her debut in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Prior to her breakout in the magazine, Hadid was primarily known as the daughter of Yolanda Foster on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
