Gia Allemand, the former The Bachelor star who died following a suicide attempt last week, will be remembered on Thursday at her funeral in New York City.
Allemand was a native of Queens, N.Y., which is where her wake will be held on Wednesday. It will take place at the Papavero Funeral home in the Maspeth section of the New York City borough. Viewings times will be from 2-5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., reported the New York Daily News. On Thursday, Allemand’s funeral will take place at the Trinity Grace Church in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan at 11 a.m. Allemand’s surviving mother, Donna Micheletti, plans on speaking at the former Maxim model’s funeral. Burial information has not been revealed.
Following Allemand’s untimely death, friends and acquaintances of the reality star have weighed in on what may have driven Allemand to take her own life. Some have said that Allemand had been deeply upset about how things were going with her longtime boyfriend, New Orleans Pelicans player Ryan Anderson, reported TMZ. Allemand’s ex-boyfriend and fellow former Bachelor Pad star Wes Hayden said that she was “pretty sensitive,” in an interview with Access Hollywood Live, adding, “I think she just genuinely wanted to be loved, to get married, to have a life, to have kids.”
Allemand’s close friend, the Bachelor star-turned-actress Ali Fedotowsky went out with her a week before she hung herself. "We talked for hours, just about life,” she told E! News. “And I know there were things she was going through, things that will always remain between me and her—but I didn't see it at all, not at all, and I just wish I had seen something.”
Micheletti, Allenmand’s mother, released a statement thanking her daughter’s true friends for their kind words and support, but also outlined her plans to refute some of the claims being made about her deceased daughter and the reasons for which she chose to end her life. "After the funeral, I do intend to speak about my dear daughter's life and death, and will do so in an open disclosure way with a trusted media source,” Micheletti said in her statement. “Thank you for all those truly concerned and God bless."
