Gia Allemand, who vied for Jake Pavelka’s affections on season 14 of The Bachelor, was hospitalized in critical condition on Tuesday.
Allemand, 29, was brought to University Hospital in New Orleans, “following a serious emergency medical event, the details of which are currently not known," her publicist said in a statement. “Ms. Allemand's mother is with her, along with her long-term boyfriend, NBA basketball player Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Pelicans. On behalf of the family, we kindly ask for privacy at this time."
Melinda Farina, a beauty expert and good friend of Allemand provided further details on the model’s dire condition. “@GiaAllemand is on life support w little pulse and barely breathing, “ Farina tweeted. “Cause unknown ..next 48 hours critical please pray for Gia everyone.” She added, “I’m so sad about my best friend right now…how could this have happened to such an incredible person..she needs to come out of it!”
Many of Allemand’s fellow members of Bachelor Nation also took to Twitter to react to the scary news and to ask for people to pray for her health, including Pavelka and Vienna Girardi, and more recent stars of the ABC dating franchise – Sean Lowe and Juan Pablo Galavis among others.
Sending out my PRAYERS to @GiaAllemand, hope for a quick RECOVERY and STRENGTH to the family in this HARD situation…
