George Zimmerman, the Florida man who was acquitted of murder in the shooting death of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin, allegedly threated to kill a fellow driver in a road rage incident on Tuesday.
It’s unknown what precipitated the confrontation, though Zimmerman is said to have driven up to the unidentified driver and asked, “Why are you pointing at me?” He then proceeded to ask, “Do you know who I am?” before warning, “I’ll f—ing kill you," reported ClickOrlando.com.
The driver subsequently pulled into the parking lot of a local shopping center into which Zimmerman followed him. The driver called police, but before police arrived, Zimmerman fled.
Two days after the road rage incident, the driver phoned police to alert them that Zimmerman was parked in his truck outside of where he works. Despite the second alleged disturbing encounter, the man declined to press charges.
Since Zimmerman was acquitted of Martin’s murder, he has found himself in trouble with the law a number of times. When he was pulled over for speeding in July 2013, it was discovered that he had a gun in his car. Two months later he was taken into custody after allegedly threatening his estranged wife Shellie Zimmerman with a gun. Then, in Nov. 2013, he was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence after an altercation with his then girlfriend Samantha Scheibe.
It was reported earlier this year that Zimmerman was possibly working security at Pompano Pat’s Motorcycles in Deland, Fla., which happens to sell firearms.
