George Zimmerman, who rose to infamy after he shot and killed unarmed teen Trayvon Martin in 2012, was arrested in Florida on Monday – four months after his first-degree murder acquittal.

Zimmerman was arrested in Florida at roughly 1:30 p.m. and taken to the Seminole County Jail in Sanford, Fla., Sheriff Don Eslinger confirmed to the Orlando Sentinel. The current girlfriend of the 30-year-old, Samantha Scheibe, reportedly accused him of domestic violence, according to WESH-Channel 2. Police were called to Scheibe’s residence in western Seminole County near Apopka.

Since he was acquitted of Martin’s murder in July, Zimmerman has had a number of run-ins with the law. He’s been stopped for speeding twice – once while carrying a gun in his glove compartment. Most recently, he was handcuffed by law enforcement in Lake Mary and taken into custody when his estranged wife Shellie Zimmerman and her father alleged that he had threatened them with a gun.

"He's in his car and he continually has his hand on his gun and he keeps saying 'step closer' and he's just threatening all of us," Shellie Zimmerman said in a 911 call. “He punched my dad in the nose; my dad has a mark on the nose. I saw his glasses were on the floor," Shellie Zimmerman added. "He then accosted my father then took my iPad out of my hands."

Scheibe was apparently there the day that her current boyfriend paid a visit to Shellie Zimmerman. At the time, she maintained that “she had no idea what was going on,” according to a police report. She had also stated that she and Zimmerman did have guns in the car, all of which were there legally.

The exact charges that Zimmerman faces have yet to be made public. As with all domestic violence cases in Seminole County, bail will not be set until Zimmerman makes his initial court appearance before a judge. He will stand before the judge on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., where it will be decided whether or not there is enough evidence for a charge and his bail will be determined.
