George R. R. Martin
A Song of Ice and Fire author George R. R. Martin has taken a break from writing the next and final two novels in the coveted series to campaign for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
The author joins a long list of celebrities to endorse Clinton and to make strides to encourage enthusiasm around her presidential run. Martin has spent time in New Mexico giving speeches about the election, warning that the state that leans Democrat will be more of a competition than he thought. The author has also written compelling literature on the subject, and argues that Donald Trump has “said the vilest things any presidential candidate has said since George Wallace, and he’s rising in the polls.” He continued: “He has boasted that he could shoot someone dead on Fifth Avenue and still not lose any votes. I am beginning to think he was right.”
“In my lifetime, there has never been a presidential candidate more unfit to lead this nation,” Martin posted on LiveJournal on Friday. “You don’t need to like Hillary. You don’t need to listen to what Hillary says about Trump, or what I say about Trump. You just need to listen to Trump. If you can do that, and still consider voting for him… well…”
He also took time to compare the attack ads each candidate has produced. He asserts that Trump has stooped to name-calling and innuendo, but had no facts to back up his claims. “Clinton doesn’t need to label Trump as “crooked” or “a liar” or link him with “perverts,” Martin described, referring to a string of ads that highlight specific speeches the Republican candidate has made. “Clinton’s ads just show Trump being Trump.”
