George Eads is reportedly leaving CSI: Crime Scene Investigation at the end of the series’ current season.
Eads has starred on CSI as Nick Stokes since the show’s premiere in 2000 and is the last original cast member still on the show. Eads has not released an official statement confirming his departure from the show, but sources say that his character’s exit will be a direct result of the conclusion to the Gig Harbor Killer case.
Eads previously took two short breaks from CSI, one in 2004 after a rumored contract dispute and one last year after Eads reportedly fought with a writer on the show.
CSI recently kicked off its fifteenth season this fall, but the long-running show’s future remains uncertain. CBS recently reduced their episode order from 22 to 18, but the shorter season reportedly did not contribute to Eads’ decision to leave the show.
CSI airs on Sundays at 10 p.m. on CBS.
