The famously bald George Costanza
Seinfeld character George Constanza has become the star of a new bar in the town of Fitzroy outside of Melbourne, Australia.
“We came up with the name George’s and worked backwards, concept theming it,” co-owner and operator Dave Barrett explained to Fairfax Media. “George Costanza suits a bar in a lot of ways. The humor around George works.”
The bar, fittingly named simply George’s, sell sandwiches that reference the Seinfeld character.
They also have a George-themed cocktail list.
Up on the walls, George’s has autographed stills from the beloved New York-based sitcom.
There’s even a massive image of the Seinfeld cast covering one of the walls.
A corner booth within the quirky establishment sits beneath several George Costanza heads.
Upon entering the bar, guests are welcomed with a pair of George Costanza quotes: “It’s not a lie if you believe it” and “Yes. Yes. Everybody has to like me. I must be liked.”
Jason Alexander, who played George on Seinfeld, took to Twitter to voice his approval of the concept. “That’s right – I may not have an Emmy, but I got me a bar in Melbourne, Australia. G’day, mates,” he tweeted.
