'Game Of Thrones' Kit Harington Says 'My Hair Has Its Own Contract'
Kit Harington, who plays Ned Stark’s bastard and rising man of the Night’s Watch on Game of Thrones, has revealed his hair is just as much under contract to the HBO series as he is.
Kit Harington On His Hair
Harington’s flowing dark brown locks have become as integral to his character as his all-black ensemble. Without it, something wouldn’t be right – at least according to the show’s producers.
“It has its own contract, definitely,” Harington said of his hair on Live With Kelly and Michael. “I never thought I’d say that about my own hair … I’m not allowed to cut it, and I didn’t realize this until recently. I wanted to cut it — I’ve had long hair for ages — and and they were like, ‘No, no, no. That won’t be happening.’”
When Kelly Ripa suggested he get it cut and then have a weave put in for the show, Harington said that wouldn’t do either. “They don’t like doing that,” the 27-year-old actor said. “It’s very funny when you get into these things, and people get very obsessed by little things … There’s all of these ridiculous conversations that go back and forth between agents and managers and HBO: ‘Can we have four inches off or can we have an inch off? What can we do with this? How curly should it be? It’s silly.’”
Ripa, siding with Game of Thrones' producers, told Harington, “I really do like your hair. You should keep it long.”
In the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones fourth season, Jon Snow is shown walking out into the snowy wilderness North of the Wall on a mission to seek out Mance Raydar. The mission, a suicide mission by all accounts, is his last ditch effort to save Castle Black and the rest of Westeros from the Wildling army. On Game of Thrones finale Sunday, Jon Snow’s fate will be revealed.
