Gabby Petito Confirmed Dead By Homicide, FBI Searches For Fiance Brian Laundrie

The autopsy report released Tuesday confirmed that the human remains recovered in Grand Teton National Park as Gabby Petito’s. Her specific cause of death has not yet been pinpointed, but the Petito has been labeled the victim of a homicide. Police and the FBI are investigating suspects.

The main person of interest, Petito’s fiance Brian Laundrie, is still missing. From the dispatch calls released on Monday and the body cam footage, it seemed that Laundrie fought with Petito and physically assaulted her before they started their road trip to several national parks together. Laundrie returned from the trip alone, catalyzing the nationwide search for Petito. Since his return, he has refused to cooperate with the police and soon disappeared.

The police searched Laundrie’s house in Florida on Monday and Tuesday and were tipped off by his parents about his plans to visit Carlton Reserve. Authorities are using every tool at their disposal: all-terrain vehicles, search dogs and helicopters, to investigate the mostly underwater search area.
