Candace Cameron Bure is being accused of homophobia again.

Miss Benny, who played the first gay character Casey in Fuller House, uploaded a video on TikTok last week, where she opened up about one of her experiences on set and said that “one of the Tanner sisters is very publicly not for the girls.”

Although Benny never indicates which Tanner sister she was referring to in the video, one of the hashtags in the caption was #candacebure. Benny then explains that she was informed about how that person was “trying to get the character removed and not have a queer character on the show.”

“I was also sort of warned and prepared that this person’s fanbase might be encouraged to target me specifically,” she said. Benny then went on to say that although she had worked on the show for two weeks straight, she only spoke to one of the Tanner sisters.

“The positive is that I had a really fun time actually shooting the show with all the other actors who were willing to talk to me, and this show ultimately led to me being on Glamorous on Netflix,” she added. “So everything happens for a reason.”

Bure later denied the allegations in a statement and said that she did not ask for Benny’s character removal from the show, nor did she ask not to have queer characters on Fuller House.

Fuller House has always welcomed a wide range of characters,” she said. “I thought Miss Benny did a great job as ‘Casey’ on the show. We didn’t share any scenes together, so we didn’t get a chance to talk much while filming on set. I wish Miss Benny only the best.”

This is not the first time Bure has found herself in homophobia accusations. Last year, she emphasized her views on “traditional marriage” represented on television. Her comments drew ire and Jojo Siwa suggested that they may never speak with each other again.
