Former Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. is ready to sell the South Beach hostel that is notoriously linked to the “pool boy” sex scandal, though the deal is currently held up in court.

A company set up by Falwell’s son bought the Alston Hostel for $4.7 million in 2013. Giancarlo Granda, who befriended Jerry and his wife, Becki, while working as a pool attendant at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami, was listed as a partner in the sale.

It was later leaked that Granda and Becki had been having sex in the years prior, with Granda claiming that Falwell filmed some of the encounters. The saga ultimately forced Falwell’s exit as president of Liberty University in 2020.

Granda’s name was removed from the hostel’s annual corporate filings last year, though he still claims to have a stake in the business.

Court filings by plaintiff LeaseFlorida a $5.5 million sales contract for the hostel in February 2023. The agreement was amended a month later to a price of $4.85 million. Granda said that he expected more from the sale.

LeaseFlorida claims that the Alston Hostel is demanding an unspecified amount above the $4.8 million purchase price listed in the contract. The lawyer for the real estate investor said he is not aware of how much more the hostel will demand in exchange for giving up the property.

Falwell resigned as president of Liberty University in 2022 after the scandal broke, receiving a $10.5 million severance package.

Falwell was a key backer of former President Donald Trump in the 2016 election.
