Following 'GCB' Cancellation And Head Injury, Kristin Chenoweth Leaves 'The Good Wife'

It has been an up-and-down year for Kristin Chenoweth, 44, whose stint on the short lived GCB (originally Good Christian Bitches) ended in May, when it was announced that parent network ABC would not be picking up GCB, which also starred Leslie Bibb, 37, Jennifer Aspen, 38, and Annie Potts, 59, for a second season. Then Chenoweth continued her ongoing guest role as a political reporter on CBS's The Good Wife with Julianna Margulies, 46, and Chris Noth, 57, only to be injured on the Brooklyn set last month when she was struck by a piece of lighting equipment that came unhinged in the wind.

Chenoweth, who won an Emmy for her role on Pushing Daisies and a Tony for Broadway's You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, spent a night in the hospital after the incident, and she has periodically shared news of her pain on Twitter. "Today not the best 'pain' day," she tweeted on August 8. "Remaining positive (I think)." But now Chenoweth has announced that she will be leaving her recurring role on The Good Wife to allow herself more time to heal.

"It is with deep regret to inform everyone that due to my injuries, I am unable to return to The Good Wife at this time," Chenoweth told People in a statement. "[I'm] getting better slowly, and thank you everyone for your concern."
