The Tampa Bay Young Republicans have been criticized for inviting Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, to speak to them.
On Feb. 27, the same day Andrew and Tristan landed in Florida after their travel ban was lifted, the Florida Republican group shared the invitation in an X post.

The post included an image of the Tate brothers, who spent over two years being detained in Romania over charges of human trafficking and rape.
The image contained the text, “The Tampa Bay Republicans welcome Andrew Tate to Florida and formally invite him to speak to our group.”

“TBYR formally welcomes @Cobratate & @TateTheTalisman to Florida,” the group stated in the caption. “As free speech absolutists, the Tate’s haven’t been formally convicted of any crimes and are welcome to speak to our group.
“We’re old enough to remember when a ‘Convicted Felon’ won the Presidency,” they added, referring to President Donald Trump.
The Republican group’s post also included the hashtag “#Freestate” in the caption.
Many users on the X platform criticized the group for having invited the brothers.
“This tracks,” one user wrote on the platform. “[MAGA] is full of perverts, sex-pests, and other assorted brokens who love to cheat on and physically abuse women. Hopefully, you’ll be smart enough to keep your minor daughters away from them.”
“What is wrong with you,” another user asked. “These are not the kind of men you want association with. Wow. Have you ever watched any of the videos and the language Tate uses when he talks about grooming girls? Horrible decision.”
“It’s one thing to say they have a legal right to come to Florida (which may or may not be correct), and yet another thing to welcome them with open arms,” another said. “At best, they are two of the sleaziest people alive and at worst are human traffickers.”
On March 4, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier (R) went to X to announce that he launched an “active criminal investigation” into the Tate brothers.
