Actress Felicity Huffman and 12 other parents charged in the recent college bribery scandal have decided to plead guilty today in Boston court. In a shocking move, Huffman announced her decision via a statement that was released on Twitter by Entertainment Tonight correspondent Brendon Geoffrion.
“I am in full acceptance of my guilt, and with deep regret and shame over what I have done, I accept full responsibility for my actions and will accept the consequences that stem from those actions,” wrote Huffman in the statement. In the same statement, she confirmed that her daughter did not know that her mother had paid $15,000 to strategist Rick Singer to fake her test scores.
Huffman’s husband, fellow actor William H. Macy, reportedly also knew about the bribe, but was not charged. After being charged, Huffman faced a possible five year prison sentence. With her plea, it is not yet known how the court will choose to proceed.
Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli, the other big-name celebrities charged in the scandal, are not amongst the 13 parents who have agreed to plead guilty.
