Fans are raising concerns over Zac Efron‘s seemingly new appearance following the release of his recent Netflix movie, A Family Affair.

In 2022, Efron revealed he had broken his jaw a few years prior, which caused the muscles in his face and jaw to enlarge. “The masseters just grew,” he told Men’s Health. “They just got really, really big.”

That same year, Efron told Entertainment Tonight that the accident almost killed him.

“It was funny. It sucks. I almost died, but we’re good.”

Despite Efron’s denial of plastic surgery rumors, social media users have been reacting to the actor’s face in his new film, which co-stars Nicole Kidman and Joey King.

“What happened to Zac Efron? He looks like an entirely different person,” one fan said on X.

“I am trying to watch A Family Affair and I’m finding it so hard. What on earth did Zac Efron do to his face? I have tried but I can never get used to looking at it,” another commented.

Kidman, 57, was also accused of looking different.

“Watching #AFamilyAffair on Netflix and I can’t stop staring at Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron’s horrendous plastic surgery. Neither one of them looks like themselves,” someone wrote.

Even plastic surgeons have commented on Efron’s new appearance. Last year, Dr. Sam Rizk told the New York Post he thought Efron had work done to his face.

“He probably took the opportunity, in addition to correcting [his jaw], to do something better,” he said. “He might have had jaw advancements where they pull the chin a little bit more forward because his chin looks a little bit more prominent. Or a chin implant or mandibular angle implants of all of the above.”

In 2014, Efron spoke exclusively to uInterview about his film, That Awkward Moment with Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller.

“I know these guys, my best friends in the world I share things with that I can’t share with other people,” Efron told uInterview. “They teach me things, and I learn from them that nobody else could have taught me. They’re intelligent they’re funny, they’re charismatic, they’re nerds. We have a bond.”

A Family Affair is now streaming on Netflix.
