F. Murray Abraham has publicly apologized for his unexpected dismissal last April from the Apple TV+ series Mythic Quest ahead of the show’s third season.
“This is a sincere and deeply felt apology,” he said in the statement. “Though never my intention to offend anyone, I told jokes, nothing more, that upset some of my colleagues and as a result lost a great job with wonderful people. I have grown in my understanding from this experience, and I hope they will forgive me.”
The 83-year-old actor’s apology comes after a report claimed he was let go following two allegations of sexual misconduct. Abraham was given a warning after the first complaint and was told to stay away from some of the show’s actresses. He was then fired by series co-creator and star Rob McElhenney following the second complaint.

Abraham played C.W. Longbottom, a fantasy/sci-fi author and head writer of the in-show video game studio. His absence from the third season was explained in the season premiere “Across the Universe” last November. The characters return to the studio to welcome Longbottom home after a year spent traveling. However, they discover that he was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Longbottom decides to drive off a cliff into the Grand Canyon, inspired by the 1991 film Thelma & Louise, in a blaze of glory.
In January 2022, Abraham was cast in the second season of The White Lotus as Bert Di Grasso. The character makes inappropriate comments about women, responding to criticism by explaining that he’s from an older generation.
