Hugh Laurie, 53, and Catherine Keener, 53, had plenty of fun while working on their upcoming film The Oranges.
“The day that we all met, when we first met in that hotel room …. We were rehearsing sort of, and we had a massive tray of bloody marys brought up because it was brunch!” Keener told Uinterview exclusively.
In The Oranges, Laurie and Keener play a married couple whose relationship hits a major speed bump when Laurie gets caught cheating – with the neighbor’s daughter (Leighton Meester, 26). The film also stars Oliver Platt, Allison Janney, Adam Brody and Alia Shawkat.
And while Keener and Laurie were all smiles in their interview, the film certainly contains a serious theme. “I’m not entrusted to speak for the movie and deliver the message, but to me, I think, ‘Don’t be afraid,’ is the message,” Laurie said. “Don’t be afraid of change, don’t be afraid of honesty. Because ultimately, however, painful things are as they happen at the moment, subsequently good things will come of it, and one should not fear change.”
The Oranges premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September and will be released to the public on Friday, October 5.
