Actor Bruce Willis‘ wife, Emma Heming Willis, expressed her anger over claims that her husband has “no more joy” after being diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia last year.
Heming Willis posted to her Instagram Story firing back at the claims.
“It’s Sunday morning and I’m triggered,” she said. “I just got clickbaited. I’m just scrolling, minding my own business, and just saw a headline that had to do with my own family. The headline basically says there is no more joy in my husband. Now, I can just tell you, that is far from the truth.”
Heming Willis addressed the stigma around dementia. She said that headlines like the one about her family scare people into thinking that a dementia diagnosis means, “‘That’s it. It’s over. Let’s pack it up. Nothing else to see here, we’re done.’ No, it is the complete opposite of that, okay?”
Heming Willis assured that her relationship with Willis was filled with love and joy.
For Valentine’s Day, Heming Willis shared a throwback photo of the couple with the caption, “Love is a beautiful thing.” The couple have been married since 2009.
Heming Willis is set to release a book in 2025 covering her experiences as Willis’ caregiver. The book aims to raise more awareness around dementia and provide advice for other caregivers with professional opinions to support.
In September, Heming Willis said “It is hard to know” if her husband knows he has dementia.
