Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s Montecito, Calif. home was burglarized on July 4, according to officials.

“The residence appears to have been targeted due to the victim’s celebrity status,” the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Officials did not say if the couple was home at the time of the burglary, and did not specify exactly what was taken from the home, though they said “high value jewelry and watches” were stolen.

“The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is in contact with other law enforcement agencies to determine if this is related to additional recent celebrity home burglaries,” the press release said. The have been many celebrity home burglaries in California recently, with victims including Rihanna, Whiz Khalifa, Drake, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. In 2019, a man was arrested after stealing from at least 13 homes of celebrities since 2017.

DeGeneres and de Rossi’s five bedroom home, which they purchased in 2019 for $27 million, sits on more than eight acres of land tucked into the hills of eastern Montecito.
