Eddie Murphy Expecting Ninth Child, First With Girlfriend Paige Butcher

Butcher’s pregnancy was confirmed by Murphy’s rep to E! News Wednesday. The couple is “pleased to announce that they are expecting a child in May,” the rep told the outlet.

The child will be the first for Butcher, 36, and the ninth for Murphy, 54. Murphy has five kids with his ex-wife Nicole Mitchell – Bria, 25, Myles, 22, Shayne, 21, Zola, 15, and Bella, 13. He has a 26-year-old son, Eric, with ex-girlfriend Paulette McNeely, and a 25-year-old son, Christian, with ex-girlfriend Tamara Hood. With former Spice Girl and America’s Got Talent judge Mel B., Murphy has a daughter named Angel, 8.

Murphy and Butcher, an Australian model, have been dating since 2011 and have kept a relatively low-profile, rarely making public appearances together. Their most recent red carpet appearance as a couple was when Murphy was honored with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in Washington, D.C., last month.

Butcher has openly admitted that she puts a premium on having privacy in her personal life, and has shied away from social media for that reason.

“I’m in a relationship with a celebrity, so I felt like there’s already enough of me out there,” Butcher told Vanity Fair in 2013. “I was giving people too much access. I like to keep as much private as possible now.”
