Dustin Diamond, best known for playing Screech on Saved by the Bell, pleaded not guilty to stabbing a man in a December bar brawl.

Dustin Diamond Pleads Not Guilty

Diamond’s attorney Thomas Alberti says that both he and his client are confident that the trial will end in their favor and that the charges of recklessly endangering safety, carrying a concealed weapon, and disorderly conduct will be dropped.

“I’m feeling very positive about the outcome [of the trial],” Alberti told People. “The deeper we dig the more confident we feel about the outcome. The police and the prosecutor provided us with video and witness reports and everything we see completely supports what we said all along happened so we feel very good about it.”

“They moved to Wisconsin because they wanted to have a family,” he Alberti added. “They felt Wisconsin would be somewhere they wouldn’t have to deal with their notoriety. They decided at Christmas to go out and then this all happened.”

On Christmas day, it’s alleged that Diamond confronted two men who had grabbed his girlfriend by the hair. When Diamond went over to them, one of the men reached for him. Diamond then allegedly reacted with a knife in his hand, and grabbed “[this man’s] arm and [moved] it up around,” according to Entertainment Weekly. Diamond has said that he “did not intentionally stab the individual in the bar.”

If convicted on all charges, Diamond could face more than 10 years in prison. He’s due in court again Feb. 19.
