Dungeons & Dragons, the 42-year-old classic game, has officially joined the National Toy Hall of Fame.
D&D is a tabletop RPG based heavily on narrative; the narrator, or Dungeon master, aiming to give life to a fictional world through description. Dice rolls determine how effective the players are, the D&D specific die have 20 sides. With a strong focus on imagination, the game can be played in a variety of ways, with five official guidebooks and hundreds of alternate variations.
The National Toy Hall of Fame, established in 1998 by The Strong Foundation, prides itself on being one of the most family-friendly attractions in New York City. The Toy Hall of Fame has included D&D game among the likes of Barbie, alphabet blocks and Monopoly.
Dungeons and Dragons will be featured at the museum and visitors are invited to play. Nominations can be submitted at any time for other games and toys deserving of a national Hall of Fame slot.
