Dr. Phil is not terribly concerned about rapper and Twitter ranter Kanye West‘s mental state – but he’s also not exactly thrilled about all of the “really stupid” things he and others tweet.

Dr. Phil on Kanye West

Dr. Phil was a guest on The Late Late Show with James Corden, when the host asked what his professional diagnosis is of West.

“Does it really take a professional [to assess West]?” Dr. Phil joked, before intimating that counter to rumors, he doesn’t think that there’s too much cause for serious concern when it comes to West. “You can’t be wrong that many times in a row unless you’re working at it,” Dr. Phil opined. “He just gets up, says something, and so here we are talking about it, so it’s working.”

It’s not just West that Dr. Phil is fed up with on social media. According to the celebrity shrink, the problem that afflicts West is one that’s affecting society as whole – narcissistic oversharing.

“Everybody thinks stuff sometimes; you’ll think of something really stupid, but we’re in a society now, we’re in a generation now, where everybody thinks you got to have an audience for everything,” Dr. Phil told James Corden. “Listen, I don’t need to know that you just brushed your teeth. And I don’t need a picture of it, I don’t need a film of it, but we’re so narcissistic now, everybody’s doing selfies of themselves brushing their teeth.”

“So now, you say something stupid, it just goes wall-to-wall,” Dr. Phil added. “They’re reading it in China in five seconds, so it just goes all over the place. You used to be stupid and get away with it.”

Corden’s other guest Tuesday night, multi-hyphenate Bow Wow, had a slightly different take on West’s Twitter presence.

Bow Wow offered, “He’s just an artist who’s very, very passionate, like over-passionate, in what he does.”
